The Poyen Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, December 14, 2004 in the boardroom.

 

A motion was made by David Phillips and seconded by Lester Webb to encourage all teachers to read and display document of American and Arkansas History according to Act 290 of 2003 (SB 57).  Motion passed.

A motion was made by Lester Webb and seconded by David Phillips to accept the legal transfers for Carlos Ibarra, Stephanie Banks, Serena Banks, Courtney Funderburg, and Jessica Jackson.  Motion carried.

A report was given to the board concerning a complaint from a parent.

The board was informed that there was some parent interest to form an elementary sports organization and to explore starting elementary football.  The parents already have a K-4 basketball program and would possibly take over the 5-6 grade basketball program. 

The board discussed the faculty and staff Christmas Dinner to be held December 20, at 6:30 p.m. at Dorey’s.

The board discussed problems with OR & R Company concerning lack of copy machine service.  The superintendent talked to the prosecuting attorney and they are investigating OR & R.

The board discussed the Facilities Study Information.

The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.

The next board meeting is scheduled for TUESDAY, JANUARY 11, 2004.
