The Poyen Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, May 3, 2005, in the boardroom.
A motion was made by Nathan Goodman and seconded by Kathy Gravitt to approve the school calendar for the 2005-2006 school year. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Lester Webb and seconded by David Phillips to make an offer of $60,981.55 to International Paper Company for 47.09 acres of land across Hwy 270 from the school campus. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Kathy Gravitt and seconded by Lester Webb to change the high school graduation requirement for 2006 graduates to a total of 23 credits. Motion carried.
A motion was made by David Phillips and seconded by Nathan Goodman to allow the superintendent to hire a cafeteria worker to replace Margaret Robbins and to hire Bill Vaughn as an hourly employee. Motion carried.
The board discussed high school graduation on May 13 at 7:00 p.m.; elementary graduation on May 26 at 7:00 p.m.; the high school construction project-taking out additional dirt on the east end and adding more gravel.
The board meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m. The next board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 9.
