A meeting of the Board of Education of Poyen School District No. 1.

MINUTES OF BOARD OF EDUCATION

The Poyen Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 in the boardroom.

A motion was made by Nathan Goodman and seconded by David Phillips to approve the attached Payroll Reduction (Employer Pick-Up) Resolution from Arkansas Teacher Retirement System. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Lester Webb and seconded by Nathan Goodman to add National Board Certification to the Salary Supplemental Schedule for 2006-2007. A stipend of $1500 per year will be paid to any teacher providing documentation on National Board Certification. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Kathy Gravitt and seconded by Lester Webb to extend Mr. Bobby Daniel’s contract through June 2009 and to extend Ms. Tina Elliott’s contract through June 2007. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Kathy Gravitt and seconded by David Phillips to delete attached inventory as listed. Motion carried.

A motion was made by David Phillips and seconded by Lester Webb to accept the resignation of Mrs. Dee McCrackin effective May 26, 2006. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Nathan Goodman and seconded by Kathy Gravitt to employ Mrs. Tami Green as teacher for 2006-2007. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Nathan Goodman and seconded by Kathy Gravitt to use the self construction method and to serve as our own general contractor for the renovation of the old high school building (#1). Bids will be opened on February 16. Motion carried.

The board discussed high school graduation on May 19. Board members who will be able to hand out diplomas need to be there at 6:45 p.m. Elementary graduation is May 25. Progress on the football field and press box construction was also discussed.

Board meeting adjourned at 7:30. The next board meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 6, 2006 at 7:00 p.m.
