The Poyen Board of Education met in regular session on
Thursday, July 13, 2006 in the boardroom.
A motion was made by Tommy Moore and seconded by Lester Webb to approve the June
15th board minutes and the June revenue and expenditure report. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Nathan Goodman and seconded by David Phillips to authorize
the superintendent to hire a teacher/coach for open position and a maintenance
person for open position. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Kathy Gravitt and seconded by Lester Webb to accept the
resignations of Glynn Nooner and Bill Vaughn for 2006-2007. Motion carried.
A motion was made by David Phillips and seconded by Tommy Moore to accept the
milk bid from Coleman Dairy and bread bid from Family Market for 2006-2007.
Motion carried.
A motion was made by Lester Webb and seconded by Nathan Goodman to approve the
06-07 cafeteria, bus driver, and teacher salary schedules; and certified and
classified handbooks as part of the 06-07 board policies. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Kathy Gravitt and seconded by Nathan Goodman to adopt board
policies, personnel policies, and student handbooks as part of the 2006-2007
Poyen School Policies. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Nathan Goodman and seconded by Tommy Moore to adopt the
Arkansas Academic Standards, expected outcomes, content standards, and
curriculum frameworks for all Poyen students pre K-12 for 06-07. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Tommy Moore and seconded by David Phillips to appoint Kathy
Gravitt as primary disbursing officer and Lester Webb as alternate for 06-07;
and Jerry Newton as ex-officio for 06-07, 07-08, and 08-09 school years. Motion
carried.
The board discussed construction projects: office, maintenance bldg.,
concession/pressbox, dirt work at the athletic fields, and demolition of
buildings. The board also discussed the Poyen School board meeting/Report to the
Public to be held September 7, 2006.
The meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m. The next board meeting is scheduled for
Tuesday, August 22, 2006.
