The Poyen
Board of Education met in regular session on Thursday, September 7, in
the library.
Mr. Newton opened the meeting by welcoming patrons and introducing the
school board.
A motion was made by Lester Webb and seconded by Kathy Gravitt to
approve the August 22 board minutes and the August revenue and
expenditure report. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Kathy Gravitt and seconded by Nathan Goodman to
approve the 05-06 Annual Financial Report & 06-07 Budget, and to adopt
the method of teacher reimbursement for classroom supplies. Each teacher
will receive $500 each year for supplies. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Nathan Goodman and seconded by Lester Webb to
approve the 06-07 Equity Compliance Report, 06-07 ACSIP Plan, 06-07
Special Education Consolidated Application and 05-06 Special Ed. Annual
Financial Report. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Lester Webb and seconded by Kathy Gravitt to
approve the student service plans for Poyen Elementary and Poyen High
School, and to approve policies for ALE, ELL, & NSLA funding and
expenditures. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Kathy Gravitt and seconded by Nathan Goodman to
employ Ronald Ouzts as part-time maintenance for the 06-07 school year.
Motion carried.
A motion was made by Nathan Goodman and seconded by Lester Webb to elect
officers for 2006-2007 as follows: President-Lester Webb, Vice
President-Kathy Gravitt, Secretary-Tommy Moore. Motion carried.
Mr. Daniel and Ms. Elliott reported on goals and objectives for
2006-2007. Mrs. Sanders reported on Federal programs. Mrs. Clements and
Mrs. Teel reported on benchmark testing & Iowa testing. Mrs. Wheat-Hagerty
reported on the gifted & talented program. Mr. Newton gave a report on
building projects and conducted a question and answer session.
Meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m. Next board meeting is scheduled for
Monday, Oct. 16, at 7:00 p.m.
