Poyen Ready for School Information

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL - The first day of school for students in the Poyen School District is Monday, August 24, 2020. We will have onsite education as well as a virtual option for students. Parents wishing to enroll in Online need to contact the building their student is in to make accommodations.

TEMPERATURE + SCREENINGS - K-12 students and staff will screen themselves at home before arriving at school. Students may be screened at any time during the day. No visitors will be allowed past the office.

MASKS - Students aged 10 and up will wear masks when not able to physically distance. Students will not wear masks when eating or while outside and able to socially distance. People with a documented medical condition or disability that prevents wearing a mask are exempt. It is suggested that students under 10 also wear a mask during transitions and when authorized by a staff member for safety.  Students should come to school the first day in an appropriately designed mask and then will be provided an additional cloth mask.

SCHOOL BUSES - It is impossible to physically distance students on the school bus; therefore, students in grades K-12 will wear a facemask while on the bus unless documented otherwise. Seating charts will be used, and buses will be regularly disinfected.

WATER FOUNTAINS + LUNCHBOXES - Students are encouraged to bring their own water bottle. Contactless filling stations will be available. Students K-12 are allowed to bring lunchboxes from home. Students bringing their own lunches will have lunch in a separate area from the cafeteria to help with social distancing.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION

All points are subject to change due to changes in state or local emergency health mandates. No external field trips or assemblies until further notice. Backpacks and lunchboxes are permitted K-12. Symptomatic students waiting for pickup will be provided a separate yet supervised space and must wear a mask until leaving the area.
