Dawson PAT(formally HIPPY)

The Poyen School District partner with the Dawson Educational Cooperative to provide the Parents as Teachers (PAT) Program(formally HIPPY.)

The Dawson Parents as Teachers (PAT) Program is an evidence-based home visiting program for any caregiver with a child between the ages of 0 to 5. Professional PAT Parent Educators provide parents and caregivers with research-based information from pregnancy through kindergarten. The early years of a child's life are critical for optimal development, and PAT provides a foundation for success. PAT Parent Educators work with caregivers in their homes to help children develop, learn, and grow to realize their full potential.

There are 4 components to the PAT Model: Personal Visits, Group Connections, Resource Network for families, and Child Screenings. Together, these components increase parent knowledge of early childhood development and improve parent practices, provide early detection of developmental delays and health issues, prevent child abuse and neglect, and increase children's school readiness and success.
